Adams Golf Announced Pro Gold Hybrids and Irons

Adams Golf, makers of the #1 hybrids on the PGA, Champions, and Nationwide Tours, has announced their new line of Pro Gold Hybrids, and Pro Gold Irons.  Designed for better players (that’s not me), the Pro Gold hybrids, in particular, are a welcome follow up to last season’s hugely successful Idea Pro Series.

The Idea Pro Gold Hybrids feature Adams’ high MOI geometric shaping, more commonly know as “Boxer Technology”.  The new hybrids feature a steel face and enhanced weighting.  Adams reports that the new models are 5% more forgiving, and offer a 10% improvement in launch conditions over last season’s model.

The Idea Pro Gold Hybrids are available in lofts designed to replace your 1 through 5 woods (lofts between 16° and 26°).

The stock shaft is the Mitsubishi Rayon JAVLN FX.

Also noteworthy is that Adams has selected one of my favorites, the Golf Pride DD2, as the stock grip for the new hybrids.

The SRP for the individual Pro Gold Boxer Hybrids is $219.

Also announced is the Idea Pro Gold Combo Irons set.  Just like some of their previous sets, Adams included 2 of the new Pro Gold Hybrids, alongside 6 forged, “tour quality” irons.

The irons (5-PW) feature a thin topline, and a narrow sole.  That’s the kind of set up that scares the hell out of me, but better players will appreciate the workability that comes with the design.

The carbon steel heads of the Pro Gold Irons are mirror chrome plated, giving them a more refined, or as Adams says, a “premium” look.  The more-than-just-eye-candy irons feature the constant offset that better players demand and grooves that offer 14% more volume than the previous model.

If all that wasn’t enough, the Adams Pro Gold Irons come stock with Rifle’s Poject X Flighted shafts, and Golf Pride’s DD2 grips.

The 8-piece sets begin shipping to golf shops June 1 with a suggested retail price of $1,099 for graphite and $899 for steel.
