TaylorMade Announces New Targa Tour Gloves
I’m not sure if they flew this one under the radar, or if it simply didn’t warrant the standard new product press release, but TaylorMade has announced the availability of their new glove, the Targa Tour.
While I’m not going to get nearly as excited about a new glove as I would a new driver (I’ll be demoing the Tour Burner this weekend), it still nice to see something new from one of my favorite golf companies.
The Targa Tour touts what TaylorMade is calling 360° ventilation. From what I gather, that’s the TaylorMade way of telling you that the Targa Tour:
- is made of Cabretta Leather for “Tour Feel” (I wish my wallet had that Tour Feel)
- is Micro-perforated (it’s got lots of tiny holes for ventilation)
- has a Moisture-wicking wristband
- is made from anti-microbial fabric that enhances fit and increases heat and moisture dissipation
I haven’t got my hand on one (or in one for that matter) yet, but based on the images I have available it’s a pretty sweet looking glove. Of course, it’s really more about fit and feel, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
I’m not particularly loyal to any brand of glove. I’ve been playing FootJoys for a while now, but I wore the original TaylorMade React glove for a season. I haven’t found a Nike or Callaway that fit right, otherwise, I’d probably have a couple of those in my bag too. Regardless, I’d certainly be willing to at least try on a TaylorMade Targa Tour.
TaylorMade appears to be serious about getting you to switch to their gloves. The company is running a couple of noteworthy promotions:You can enter to win a year’s supply of Targa Tour Gloves here.
For those of us not lucky to win a year’s worth of free gloves, TaylorMade is running a buy 2 get 1 free (mail-in rebate) offer. Details, and redemption form can be found here.
A better option might be to skip the mail-in stuff and take advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free through The Golf Warehouse - Golf’s #1 Online Superstore. I’m not allowed to link to products directly, but if you search the site for “Targa Tour”, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Additional photos can be found by following either link.
If you do try the Targa Tour, please stop back and let us know what you think.
