I promise you I have other sources for coffee, and I’ll be writing about them soon enough.  However, once again, today’s sample for review was provided by my employer as part of our outstanding office coffee program.  We get a large variety of Green Mountain K-Cups each week, and almost always included among them is today’s sample; Green Mountain’s Our Blend.

This mild, smooth and aromatic blend is served in thousands of dining establishments along the East Coast. Made exclusively from American coffees, it is our classic house blend.

What It Says On the Box

The first and original.  Smooth, aromatic, and mild.  A delightful cup of coffee.

The Aroma

I tried really really hard to identify the aroma.  I’ve failed miserably.  I just can’t put my finger (or nose) on it.  Other reviews have claimed chocolate and fruit tones.  Perhaps I’m getting some of that.  Perhaps I only think that’s what I’m smelling because someone else smelled them first.  What I’m sure of is that it smells smooth, like it’s ready to put the moves on you.

Drinking It Black

A light roast, with a light body, Our Blend does well to avoid tasting watered down.  Like the aroma, the taste is smooth; exceptionally so.  It’s neither tart nor bitter.  It is, however; very tasty.  While I’m not a black coffee drinker, if I should ever find myself lacking cream and sugar, Our Blend is likely the first I’d reach for.

With Cream & Sugar (Splenda)

Unlike other blends I’ve discussed recently, Green Mountain’s Our Blend yields to cream and sugar without a fight, and that’s to its benefit.  As good as it is black, it’s doubly, nay (yes, I just said nay), triply good when made light and sweet.

Final Thoughts

As a general rule I try and write these reviews after sampling 2-3 K-Cups.  With Our Blend, however; I’ve probably sampled close to 10 already.  Don’t let the numbers fool you.  I didn’t struggle to form an opinion, it’s just that Green Mountain’s Our Blend is so smooth, so tasty, so…so…so qwowi that I can’t stop myself from drinking cup after cup after cup.

If I’m interpreting the box correctly, Our Blend may be the original Green Mountain blend.  If that’s the case, you wonder why the bothered to create other flavors.  You’re really not supposed to get it right the first time, and yet Green Mountain’s Our Blend is a perfect every-morning coffee for people who like no nonsense delicious coffee (and who doesn’t).  Granted, we’re early into our tastings, but Our Blend is my favorite among the “Green Tops” (as my wife calls them), and my favorite among all light blends.

If you don’t have a Keurig Brewer, I’d suggest you pick one up immediately.  I’ve been using my B70 for a couple of weeks now, and I absolutely love it.  There is no easier, faster, way to brew a great cup of coffee.  If you’re not ready to commit to a Keurig, you can brew Green Mountain’s delicious “Our Blend” in the coffee maker you already have.  As the company says:
