Perfect Your Golf Swing with ShotWatch™

shotwatch.jpgCan a wristwatch improve your golf swing? If it’s the ShotWatch™ it can. Unlike actual watches, the new ShotWatch™ doesn’t keep time, it keeps track of tempo (grip pressure and swing speed too), and that’s really the key to this cool new training aid.

Utilizing servo-motors, and other advanced sensors, the ShotWatch™ is able to track and record valuable information about your golf swing. With a simple press of a button ShotWatch™ is ready to start recording data. As you begin your take away the ShotWatch™ will beep to let you know that it’s working (if you’re not a fan of the beeping, no worries, simply disable the audible alerts).

Once you’ve completed your swing, use the select button to cycle through the newly mined data showing you your grip pressure, swing speed and tempo. If, for example, during a given practice session you’re only concerned with your grip pressure (one of my frequent downfalls), you don’t have to worry about cycling through the other measurements after every swing. The ShotWatch™ always shows the last value that you looked at first. If you’re only worried about your grip, you’ll never have to look at the other values.

Because the goal of the ShotWatch™ is to make you a better, more consistent golfer, it’s been designed to keep track of your best shot. When you finally hit a shot worth saving (for me this usually happens sometime in late July), select the thumbs up option to store your personal best in ShotWatch’s on board memory. After each and every swing, the ShotWatch™ will show you how the swing you just took compares to your personal best. You can update your best as often as your ever-improving skills demand .

The ShotWatch™ also has a handicap setting that can be adjusted from 1 to 5, with 1 being for the more accomplished golfer. The lower the setting, the more brutal ShotWatch™ will be in its evaluation of your swing. As you raise the handicap level up, you’ll increase the margin of error, which means ShotWatch™ will give you more room to be your less than perfect self.

When you setup the ShotWatch™ for the first time, you’ll need to make sure you configure the dexterity setting properly. ShotWatch™ will work for both right and left-handed golfers, but it needs to be told which you are.

Free your mind, perfect your swing, hit your best shots with ShotWatch™

About the only thing ShotWatch™ can’t track is your swing plane. Based on how the ShotWatch™ works it would seem to be possible. Maybe it’s not. Maybe they just didn’t think of it. PC integration for more detailed shot tracking would be a welcomed improvement as well. Maybe we’ll see a ShotWatch™ Pro 6 months from now. Who knows.

At $295 the ShotWatch™ is one of the more expensive swing trainers on the market. Unlike many electronic swing trainers, however; you can actually hit balls while wearing the ShotWatch™. The real selling point of the ShotWatch™ is that the provides valuable feedback after each and every swing. It helps to build muscle memory by supplying concrete data points which take personal swing analysis far beyond “this feels right”. You already know what a good swing feels like. With ShotWatch™ you’ll have the numbers to prove it.

More information, including how to purchase the ShotWatch™ is available at the company’s website.
