Full Description
This classic Timothy’s Parisian roast is a thick, hearty blend. Contains 25% more coffee than our standard K-Cups. Roasted to a perfectly dark, deep color, this is one blend that you will not forget.
The Aroma
Timothy’s Extra Bold Parisian Nights has a deep, smoky aroma, with just a hint of nut.
Drinking It Black
Timothy’s Parisian Nights is a high-gloss brew with deep caramel color. The first sip of Parisian Nights is pure earth. The smoky flavor walks a fine line between the taste of a rich, dark roast, and a cup full of burnt beans. Thankfully it never quite crosses over. Parisian Nights is undeniably smooth, especially for such a dark brew. It’s not overpowering or overly acidic. It’s not unpleasant either, but I’m convinced I could never drink a full cup of it black.
With Cream & Sugar (Splenda)
Parisian Nights stands up very well to cream and sugar. The earthy (it’s good earthy) flavor remains, and I was able to taste a bit more bean on the back of the tongue. There’s little in the way of tartness, but it does linger in the mouth a bit longer than I generally like. Overall I found it to be a good cup of coffee, although I think there are better French roast options for Keurig brewers.
Final Thoughts
In the past, I was never a fan of dark coffees (or the French), but as I start to experiment with our Keurig Brewer I find that position changing rapidly. Timothy’s Extra Bold Parisian Nights is a good, but not extraordinary cup of coffee. There’s nothing the least bit unpleasant about it, but at the same time, nothing really screams “That’s the junk” (my personal way of describing an outstanding cup of coffee) either. It is fairly nondescript. I’ll add the occasional cup to my rotation, and if was the only choice available I’d certainly be satisfied (it’s quite a step up from the pot 0 swill we were drinking before our Keurig arrived). It is a fairly dark, bold cup of joe. Devotees of the chain brands will probably find it a bit too strong. I have to be honest, when I really need that cup of morning coffee, this is the flavor that I go for. I am notorious for being a fan of Folger’s brewed up waaaay too strong. I drink coffee to wake me up, flavor is an afterthought. Timothy’s Extra Bold Parisian Nights is what I turn to in the office (as Folger’s isn’t an option). I look for that “Bold” indicator on the boxes we have available at work, and “Parisian Nights” is the one I always end up with. Flavor? Honestly, it isn’t great….nothing spectacular, as you mentioned. But it certainly kicks me awake. When I am just looking for a hot cup of good tasting coffee, I do not turn to this brand. 95% of the time though, I am drinking it to give me some zip, and so Parisian Nights is the one I go looking for.
