GreenFix Wizard: A Ballmark Repair Tool for the Masses

While reading through golf news as I do every week, I came across a very simple tool that can make golf more enjoyable for everyone. Quite frankly, I’m a little embarrassed that I hadn’t heard about it sooner.

Not much, if anything, on a golf course gets on my nerves more than other so-called golfers who don’t repair their ball marks. These are no doubt the same people who leave behind messes in office kitchens and other places where their mothers don’t actually live. How many times has an otherwise makable putt suddenly veered of course because it rolled across some clown’s unrepaired ball mark?  While unfortunately you probably don’t have the power to banish these reprehensible morons, there is something you can do.

The Greenfix Wizard is the most effectively, and quite possibly, the easiest ball mark repair tool available anywhere. Unlike most repair tools that have excessively long teeth that can damage roots, the Greenfix Wizard features teeth that are only as long as they need to be to get the job done.

A recent study at Kansas State University concluded that improperly repaired ball marks actually take longer to heal than those left untreated. Unfortunately, a large percentage of green damage results from overly aggressive, or improper use of the more common style of repair tool. Sadly, many otherwise well-meaning golfers are uneducated about the proper way to repair a ball mark. Too often they use a lift and twist motion, instead of simply pushing the grass back in place from the high side of the mark.

The Greenfix Wizard is designed to use a simple pushing motion to repair the damage. The shallow teeth can all but eliminate root damage caused by the repair process. In fact, repairs done with the Wizard often heal in just over a week. Untreated ball marks can take 3 weeks or more to heal. Finally, improper repairs that result in root damage, can take as long as six weeks to fully recover.

The company has designed an entire system that clubs can implement to promote use, and proper repair by their members. The Greenfix system is so successful that it’s been adopted by several world renowned clubs including Bulle Rock, and the storied Medinah Country Club.

Even if you forsake country club life in favor of your local goat pasture, it doesn’t mean you can use the tool. The Greenfix Wizards is available through the company’s website, as well as retailers like The Golf Warehouse. The price for two tools ranges from $7-$14 depending on whether you prefer, black, silver, or gold. A gift box containing a single tool and 3 ball markers can be had for $7-$10. Greenfix also makes a $4.95 version of the Wizard that attaches to your putter grip so you can repair your damage without having to bend down.

Unless your a complete degenerate, you probably already own one or more divot tools. That’s no reason why you can spend a paltry $7 on the Greenfix Wizard. Buy the Greenfix Wizard and use it to repair all of your ball marks. While you’re on the green, use your Wizard to repair 2 or 3 other marks (after all, not everyone is as responsible as you are). Do you part, and help make the greens better for all of us.

More information, including video demonstrations, are available at the Company website.
