Sony Announces A200 DSLR
While the rumor mills are stirring for industry giants Nikon and Canon in the lead up to this year’s PMA (which gets underway at the end of this month), Sony surprised just about everybody by announcing their newest entry level DSLR at CES.
While Sony has yet to reclaim Minolta’s 35mm market share in digital age, the A200 is yet another step in the right direction for the electronics powerhouse. The consumer-level A200 (which replaces the A100) is being marketed as the next step for point and shoot photographers.
Product highlights include:
- 10.2 Megapixel sensor with anti-dust sensor
- In camera vibration reduction system
- Shooting speeds of up to 3fps.
Full details and specifications can be found at the Sony A200 Site
As they usually do, the guys at DPreview have a full write-up as well.
With an expected street price of $700 (body only) and $900 (with 18-70mm lens) it should provide some competition for the Nikon D80, and as a slightly higher priced alternative to Pentax K10D and the Canon Rebel XTI (which is also rumored to be getting an upgrade this year).
